I’m Chris Prael, a private chef and business owner based across San Diego, La Jolla, and Del Mar, specializing in restaurant-level private dining experiences built and operated entirely from the ground up — from the food to the systems behind the service.
My cooking is shaped by years in professional kitchens, including a strong foundation in sushi, where precision, timing, and consistency define everything. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area in a home where cooking was a constant part of life, influenced early on by a Caribbean mother who made food central to how we gathered, shared, and connected. That early foundation, combined with years cooking throughout Los Angeles in high-paced kitchens, shaped the way I approach both food and hospitality today.
I don’t just cook in your home — I design and run the entire experience. That includes custom menu creation, printed menus, and the full backend system that handles booking, scheduling, and payments. On the day of your event, I bring everything needed for service, manage full setup, and handle complete cleanup so the experience feels effortless from start to finish.
My focus is simple: restaurant-quality execution in a private setting, with a calm and structured experience that lets you actually enjoy the moment. Clients often describe the experience as professional, relaxed, and memorable — because everything is handled, and nothing is left for you to manage.
